Armed Robbery at Wells Fargo ATM

A man was using the outdoor ATM machine at the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 1899 Marina Boulevard, on Friday at 5 a.m. He was approached by a suspect wearing a hooded sweatshirt and robbed, according to San Leandro police.

The suspect was further described as an African-American male in his 20’s, with a dark-colored, hooded sweatshirt, with the hood pulled over his head, partially concealing his face. The suspect was armed with a firearm, and fled the area with an undisclosed amount of money.

Lt. Robert McManus stated that the San Leandro Police Department’s detectives are working with Wells Fargo security agents and area businesses, attempting to locate and view video surveillance that may be used to identify the suspect.

“We want to remind everyone to always be aware of their surroundings, especially while using ATM machines. We recommend the use of outdoor ATM machines during daylight hours if possible, or when the area has others around, as this generally deters crimes like this,” said Lt. McManus. “The more often our community calls the police to report suspicious activity, the greater the likelihood there is that we will deter and prevent crime in our community, making it a safer place for everyone in San Leandro.”
