Bayfair Center Avoids Looting After Police Sound Alarm
"A group of about 100 people took over the roadway, and vehicles were observed circling the mall property," police said in an advisory.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — San Leandro Police warned the public Wednesday night about planned looting at Mayfair Center. Police put on extra officers, posted them at the shopping center and alerted the public, businesses, and neighboring police forces.
The result: no looting.
However, police say "a group of about 100 people took over the roadway, and vehicles were observed circling the mall property."

Police say their efforts "effectively deterred criminal activity."
The organized looters did successfully strike in Oakland and Emeryville, according to police in those cities.
