A fallen power line in San Leandro today sparked a fire that damaged a home on Harold Avenue, a fire battalion chief said.
     Â
The fire was reported just after 12:15 p.m. at 14828 Harold Ave. when a 12,000-volt power line became dislodged and fell onto the lawn, according to Alameda County fire Battalion Chief Bob Hopken.
     Â
The grass caught fire, and the flames spread quickly to the porch area of the home, Hopken said.
     Â
Fire engines arriving on the scene were able to contain the fire, but it damaged the porch, exterior of the house and a portion of the roof, Hopken said. He estimated damage at around $15,000 to $20,000.
     Â
The house was unoccupied and no injuries were reported, Hopken said.
    Â
It is unclear how the power line became dislodged, Hopken said.
