Free Concert In San Leandro This Saturday

Concert pianist Frederick Hodges will play ragtime favorites from the Great American Songbook.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Are you searching for culture but short on cash? The solution is in San Leandro this Saturday when a world renowned concert pianist gives a free concert featuring ragtime music. Ragtime? Think George Gershwin, Irving Berlin or Scott Joplin.

Pianist Frederick Hodges was hailed by critic Leonard Maltin who wrote "Hodges is not only a great technician; he brings verve and gusto to his performances, turning these potential antiquities into vivid showpieces."

Hodges performs with orchestras, festivals, conductors and many collaborative musicians around the globe.

His recordings are available on Rivermont Records, Stomp Off and Aristophone Records, including works by Gershwin, Cole Porter and Joplin.

The concert is this Saturday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. in the Lecture Hall at the Main Library, 300 Estudillo Aveune, San Leandro, 94577.

Once again, the cost is absolutely free.
