SAN LEANDRO, CA — Ongoing job losses because of the coronavirus business closures has some families scrambling to put food on the table. If you are one of them, here's how to get free food every Friday.
Dig Deep Farms food bank, at 2700 Fairmont Dr. in San Leandro, does the giveaway. All you have to do is drive up and volunteers will load free groceries into the trunk of your car. No contact and no lifting.
The giveaway takes place from 1 to 3 p.m.

According to their website, Dig Deep Farms currently operates multiple farms, providing jobs and training for members of the community. One of the farms is on Alameda County Fire Department land, while another is on land owned by Alameda County in the San Leandro hills next to Camp Sweeney, an Alameda County Juvenile Justice facility.
In addition to growing vegetable, they have orchards and are adding chickens.
