BAY AREA — Sunday is a fresh chance for a free cup of Starbucks here in the Bay Area.

The company's promotion featuring 1,000 "pop-up parties" will include Starbucks in the following locations:

  • 222 Broadway, Suite 4, Oakland, CA 94607
  • 3735 Buchanan St., San Francisco, CA 94123
  • 425 Battery St., San Francisco, CA 94111
  • 2222 Fillmore St., San Francisco, CA 94115
  • 3801 3rd St., San Francisco, CA 94124
  • 1430 Monterey Road, Suite 20, San Jose, CA 95110
  • 2990 East Capitol Expressway, San Jose, CA 95148
  • 21001 San Ramon Valley Blvd., San Ramon, CA 94583
  • 1901 Mission St., Santa Cruz, CA 95060

Here's how it works: Each day for five days, more than 200 locations will be chosen to offer the promotion. You can view a list on the pop-up party site daily to view the next day's participating stores. And you have to visit during the one-hour window of the "party," from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. local time, to get your complimentary beverage.

"Customers who visit a participating store will receive a free tall handcrafted espresso beverage of their choice, hot or iced, including Peppermint Mochas, Iced Toasted White Chocolate Mochas, lattes, macchiatos and more (one per customer)," Starbucks representatives said in a news release.

The promotion runs through Tuesday, Dec. 31.
