Hayward Shooting Victim Identified

HAYWARD, CA —A man who was fatally shot in Hayward on Saturday night was identified by police today as 21-year-old Santiago Vasquez of Hayward.

At 8:10 p.m. on Saturday, Hayward officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of College Heights Park at 27020 Fielding Drive.When they arrived at the scene officers found Vasquez suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital but died of his injuries a short time later, police said.

According to police, there is no suspect in custody and no information available about potential suspects.

This is the second homicide in Hayward this year, police said.
