Main Library Closed Wednesday For Catalog Update

San Leandro Main Library will be closed Wednesday. However, meeting rooms will be open and library programs will continue.

The San Leandro Main Library will be closed on Wednesday in order to update the library’s catalog.

Meeting rooms will be open, and library program will continue as normal.

Included in the new catalog are new customer service features such as enhanced search capabilities, making it easy for library patrons to locate the exact item they are seeking based upon library location, type of material (audio book, book, DVD, etc.), and language (English, Spanish, Chinese, etc.).  Additionally, the new catalog enables users to seek information such as title, author, and location of a book or DVD via text message, and customers also will be able to share the books they like on Facebook.

The new catalog will be available to the public beginning on Thursday.

"The new catalog makes our libraries even more easily accessible to the entire community, including to those residents whose primary language is Spanish or Chinese," stated Mayor Stephen Cassidy. "San Leandrans rightly take great pride in our libraries.  We have one of the finest library systems in California for a mid-sized city.  The new catalog constitutes another investment of resources to improve access to city services and enhance the quality of life in San Leandro."
