Miraglia Catering Goes Out Of Business Over Coronavirus
"You're losing money every day. In fact, I just wrote out about $150,000 in refunds checks for deposits to clients."
SAN LEANDRO, CA — A catering business founded in San Leandro during the 1940s that has served generations of brides, corporate big wigs, and social events, is closing its doors permanently. Miraglia Catering is going out of business because of coronavirus. Wednesday is their final day of operation.
The business tried to stay alive by delivering home meals, but it simply wasn't enough.
"There's no light at the end of the tunnel," Cheryl Miraglia told ABC7 News. "There's no timeline. You don't know how long it's going to last and you're bleeding. You're losing money every day. In fact, I just wrote out about $150,000 in refunds checks for deposits to clients."

So after catering thousands of weddings, birthday parties, and other events, the company is done.
"I was hoping to make the 75th anniversary and turn it over to my nephew. Let him proceed," said Mike Miraglia, "but that's just not working out. 72 years for catering though. That's a pretty good record."
