Mourning Mothers Family and Friends Walk to Prevent Violence This Saturday

The non-profit 1000 Mothers to Prevent Violence will hold its annual walking event June 8 at the San Leandro Marina.

The community is invited to attend the non-profit 1000 Mothers to Prevent Violence's annual walking event that aims to raise awareness for the need for ongoing services for victims and survivors of violence.

The Mourning Mothers Family and Friends Walk to Prevent Violence will be held this Saturday, June 8 at the San Leandro Marina Park.

Attendees are asked to bring photos of their loved ones.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. with the 3K walk beginning at 10 a.m. and the program starting at 11 a.m. Children are free and adults pay $20 (which includes lunch and a t-shirt).

Lunch includes hot dogs, pasta salad, The Olive Garden salad and breadsticks and pastries from Svenhard's Swedish Bakery.

ABC 7's Cheryl Jennings will emcee the event which will be attended by San Leandro Mayor Stephen Cassidy, OPD Chief Whent, and comedian/actor, J-Red.
