Nearly 1,000 attend Davis Street Health Fair
The fun filled Health Fair included: free dental exams, blood pressure checks, fresh produce, Medi-Cal and Cal-fresh enrollment and more!
August 12, 2017; San Leandro, California: Nearly 1,000 individuals were in attendance as Davis Street hosted its 3rd annual Health Fair, Saturday, August 12. The fun filled Health Fair included: complimentary dental exams, blood pressure checks, games, fresh produce, Medi-Cal and Cal-fresh enrollment assistance and linkages to other resources throughout the community.
In addition to the Health related items Davis Street also provided new shoes and backpacks to more than 300 children enrolled in the Back 2 School program. Now in its 16th year the program provides low-income and homeless children with new shoes, backpacks and school supplies to start the year.

Complimentary lunch was provided to all attendees thanks to Local 55 Firefighters Union of Alameda County and Saag’s Specialty Meats; a farmers market provided each attendee with fresh produce to attendees thanks an anonymous donor.
Overall, the fair was fun for the whole family, with carnival games, face painting and more than 25 community resource booths. Participants included: Alameda County Fire Department, San Leandro Police Department, Firefighters Local 55, Alameda County Food Bank, Alameda County Health Care Service Agency, Al-Anon Family Groups, Building Futures for Women and Children, Drivers for Survivors, East Bay Agency for Children, Eden Health District, 211 / Eden I&R, FeelSafe Wireless, George Mark Children’s House, Golden Gate Sleep Centers, Healthy Relationships California, Planned Parenthood, Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, Representative Barbara Lee’s Office, ResCare HomeCare, Rubicon Programs, San Leandro Recreation and Human Services, San Leandro Rotary, San Leandro Youth Soccer League, San Leandro Sporting United, St. James Lutheran Church, Stepping Stones Growth Center, WIC – Women, Infants and Children.
