Out of Town Crime Holding SL Back
What is the SLPD doing to fight crime committed by people from Oakland, Hayward, and other places? Although I was unable to find the data tracking crime by place of residency, San Leandrans will acknowledge that most crime committed here is by out of towners. Out of town crime is keeping San Leandro from developing into a more prosperous community as potential residents and businesses will not want to move here given the bad reputation that these people create. We pay the SLPD huge salaries, pensions, and other benefits and they are responsible for keeping us safe. SLPD should aggressively patrol BART and bus stations and also use technology such as social media and surveillance cameras to preempt out of town crime before it is committed. I truly believe that out of town crime is one issue that we can agree is holding our town back from becoming great again.
