Pentatonix Coming To Oracle Arena In Oakland

OAKLAND, CA — Pentatonix kicks off a nationwide tour at the Oracle Arena in Oakland on May 11.
Pentatonix, often just abbreviated “PTX”, are an a cappella group with their roots in Texas. They got their start playing their own take on classic Christmas songs and numerous pop hits. Their pop-style sound and blended vocal harmonies with beatboxing, basslines, and riffing allow them to create some unique melodies from popular songs.
The group formed in 2011, and after winning “The Sing Off” on NBC, Pentatonix not only won $200,000 they also immediately signed a deal with Sony Music. Since then the group has been busier than ever. Their third release, “PTX, Volume II” debuted in the number one position on the Billboard chart of Independent Albums. They’ve won three Grammy Awards, Best Country Duo/Group Performance in 2017, and were the first and only a cappella band to win awards in 2015 and 2016 for Best Instrumental or A Cappella.

Pentatonix loves to tour, bringing their music and vocals to stages around the country. Their first tour in 2012 hit over 30 cites, with a complete sell out wherever they performed. Other tours have been just as popular, including not only North America but with shows throughout Europe, Asia, and Japan.
After releasing two new albums in 2018, Pentatonix is ready to show America what they’ve got, performing their new cover songs which include Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” and one of the most internet played songs ever, “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi.
