“Pulp to Pics” Summer Film Series

Three films based on classic literature will be shown at the main library throughout summer. The event is free and open to all.

From the City of San Leandro

Join us in our beautiful Carnegie Lecture Hall and Theater to enjoy highly acclaimed “pics” (moving pictures) that are based on classic literature. Before each movie, a short five-minute lecture will be given on fun and fascinating facts on the film and the book from which it was based.

The films will be shown at the Main Library, which is located at 300 Estudillo Avenue in downtown San Leandro.

The June 8 film is based on tragic romance amidst the stark English moors by Emily Brontë. The July 20 film is based on a novel of false accusations, misadventure and revenge  by Alexander Dumas (père). And the August 3 film is based on Edith Wharton’s novel of scandal against the backdrop of a rigidly structured New York society during the 1870s.

There is free admission to these films, which start at 11 a.m. All three of these films run a little over two hours. See you at the movies!
