Runners Raise $27,000 To Help Abused Kids
The San Leandro nonprofit CALICO will use the funds to counsel abused children in Alameda County.

Thirty-five runners took part in raising $20,500 and business donors kicked in another $6,500 to put $27,000 toward helping abused children in Alameda County.
This money will go to CALICO, the Child Abuse Listening, Interviewing, and Coordination Center.

This San Leandro-based nonprofit works with law enforcement, child welfare workers, prosecutors and other professionals to heal abused children.
The fundraising effort was focused around the recent Oakland Running Festival.Â

The business donors were Corrigan Sports ($1,500) and the San Francisco Law firm Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman ($5,000).
The balance of the $27,000 was raised by pledges solicited by the runners.
