San Leandro Police Chief Announces Retirement
Jeffrey Tudor joined the San Leandro Police Department 25 years ago and rose through the ranks.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Chief Jeffrey Tudor will retire from the San Leandro Police Department effective June 23, the city announced Tuesday.
Tudor started a 31-year career with the city in the Recreation Department, joining the Police Department 25 years ago. He worked his way through the ranks and became chief four years ago.
"It has been an honor and a privilege to be the Chief of Police in the city where I was born and raised," Tudor said in a statement. "The City of San Leandro has provided me many opportunities for which I am truly grateful, and I am extremely proud to have worked with so many talented dedicated public servants."

His time in the department included command and management experience in administration, patrol, traffic, special operations, criminal investigations, and SWAT.
He was lauded for his involvement and outreach with schools, community groups, and nonprofit organizations.
"Chief Tudor will be greatly missed," added Mayor Cutter. "He earned the top cop position several years ago because of his servant leadership, approachability, responsiveness, and love for our community's wellbeing. He also demonstrated himself to be a thoughtful and effective leader who truly cared about the San Leandro community throughout my two decades in public office. I wish him well in the next chapter of his life."

Interim City Manager Fran Robustelli has started discussions with the City Council about recruitment for the next police chief.
