Mike McLaughlin, superintendent of the 1,600-student John Swett Unified School District in Contra Costa County since 2008, will take over the 8,800-student, 900-employee San Leandro school district beginning July 1, The Daily Review reports.
Current Superintendent Cindy Cathey announced her retirement about four months ago after serving 17 years in the district and three years as chief, The Daily Review reports.
