San Leandro Woman Thrown From Car, Killed In Crash

A man was also thrown from the car. Police are trying to figure out who was driving.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — A 25-year-old San Leandro woman died in solo-vehicle crash in Santa Clara early Monday morning, police said.

The woman and a 29-year-old San Leandro man were traveling in a black Honda Fit east on Cabrillo Avenue at 1:27 a.m. when they hit several parked cars while driving at a high speed, according to Sgt. Todd Cummins.

Both were ejected from the car in the 3300 block of Cabrillo, and the woman died after being taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. The man is currently hospitalized in critical condition, police said.

The Santa Clara County medical examiner's office will identify the woman once her family is notified of the death. Cummins said police are trying to determine which person was driving the car, and officers do not know if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
