Schools Select Ad Firm for Burrell Field Billboard Project

District staff estimate that the school board can approve a draft of the contract as early as August, according to The Daily Review.

San Leandro schools were offered at least $10,000 a month for the next 10 years by an advertising firm to build and operate a two-sided electronic billboard at Burrell Field, according to The Daily Review.

American Outdoor Advertising, was the only firm to submit a proposal, The Daily Review reports. School board members unanimously voted 6-0—with one absent—during their Tuesday meeting to begin negotiating with the firm, according to The Daily Review.

According to its proposal, American Outdoor Advertising offered the SLUSD $10,000 a month, or 33 percent of the gross ad revenue after ad agency commissions—whichever is greater— to build the billboard, The Daily Review reports. The ad firm also promised to pay the first 10 year's rent—or $1.2 million—up front once the necessary permits are issued, The Daily Review reports.
