U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) will host a Coffee with your Congressman for East Bay veterans this Saturday at the Hayward Memorial Hall located at 22737 Main Street from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Veterans are invited to join Rep. Swalwell for coffee and a conversation about the issues facing veterans and their families, such as the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) backlog and how his office can assist with VA claims.
“We owe our veterans more than just ‘thank you for your service,’ we must keep our pledge that when they return home, we serve them as well as they served us,” said Swalwell. “I am committed to assisting veterans and ensuring they receive the benefits they earned. Events like Coffee with your Congressman give me the opportunity to hear directly from veterans and talk about how I can best serve them.”
Rep. Swalwell has made reducing the VA backlog a top priority since taking office in January. So far he has cosponsored fourteen bills to modernize the VA and make the benefits process more efficient. To date, Rep. Swalwell’s office has assisted 196 active military personnel and veterans with claims.
