Train Kills Man in San Leandro
Police say the man "walked directly into the path of the passing train."
SAN LEANDRO, CA — A man was killed by an Amtrak train in San Leandro Monday evening, according to San Leandro Police.
The collision happened near the intersection of Davis and Alvarado streets at around 6:45. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the railroad tracks.
Police say the train was going almost 80-miles-per-hour when it hit the man. The railroad crossing warning system at Davis Street was operating normally, with the railroad arms lowered to block traffic and red warning lights flashing.

Crews from Amtrak, Union Pacific, and San Leandro police all responded the collision. Davis Street was closed for about two hours as for investigators.
