Event: Free Compost and Mulch for San Marino Residents

From the City of San Marino's website:

Compost and mulch are key ingredients to organic gardening. However, they can also be expensive if purchased at your local home improvement or gardening center. But now, you can receive 30 gallons of free, nutrient-rich organic compost and mulch from the .

The organic compost is made from street sweeping debris and household waste collected citywide by Athens Services. Athens’ compost is listed on the “Organic Review Material Institute,” which is the most complete directory of products for organic production or processing. The mulch is recycled wood waste from the UC Riverside woodshop and ground into 1- to 2-inch wood chips.

To get your 30 gallons of free organic compost and mulch, bring proof of your San Marino residency in the form of a trash bill or photo identification to Lacy Park on Saturday, November 19 between the hours of 9 a.m. to noon. It is a self-service event, so residents should bring their own containers and a shovel to fill them.
