San Marino Unified Tops State API Rankings

The school district scored a 953 out of a possible 1000.

San Marino Unified's streak of dominance atop the state's API rankings has officially reached 11 straight years, according to the results released by the Department of Education on Thursday.

The district racked up a score of 953 (out of a possible 1000), with its closest competition being La Canada Unified, which checked in at 947. The 953 score is actually two points lower than what was scored in 2012, but a look at API reports across the state show that drops of varying degrees were a trend -- overall, the number of schools meeting the target for student performance fell 2 percent.

Here's how each of the district's schools scored compared to 2012, according to the Department of Education:

  • Carver Elementary scored 967 points (966 in 2012)
  • Valentine Elementary scored 952 (951 in 2012)
  • Huntington Middle School scored 977 (973 in 2012)
  • San Marino High School scored 932 (940 in 2012)
