SMUSD Board Members Vacancy Update

Greetings San Marino Community,

As you are aware, the San Marino Unified School District currently has two vacancies on the School Board and is seeking eligible candidates to fill those vacancies. The first application process to fill the seat vacated by Mr. Corey Barberie at the May 11, 2021 Board Meeting, closes this Friday, June 4, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. Interested citizens of San Marino may access the applications using the following two methods:

The second application process to fill the seat vacated by Mrs. Julie Chan Lin at the May 25, 2021 Board Meeting, closes on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. The applications for this opening may be found at:

There are currently four applicants for the 1st vacancy and one applicant for the 2nd vacancy. The current Board of Education hopes for many interested citizens to apply for these very important positions as the District heads into a critical period in her history. This Board of Education will be making crucial decisions about a new Superintendent, a renewed Strategic Plan, large facilities issues, and issues of curriculum, instruction, learning pathways, technology and professional development moving forward.

Each position will serve through the end of 2022 when a November election will be held to determine four positions on the school board.
