St. Edmund's Friends of Music Presents Spring Organ Concert Series

A free organ concert series featuring the music of Bach, Copland, Franck, Vierne, Koloss, Tournemire, Howells, & Guilmart

Spring Organ Concert Series

May Series, Sundays at 4:00 P.M.

San Marino, CA: The St. Edmund’s Friends of Music is pleased to announce a three-week series of free Sunday afternoon organ recitals by organists Zoltan Varga, Dr. Ray Urwin and Robert Hovencamp. The concerts will be performed on the Aeolian-Skinner Organ Company Opus 1323 organ that was installed in St. Edmund’s Episcopal Church in 1957 and recently restored and enlarged from 34 to 44 ranks by the Rosales firm.

Zoltan Varga, a Hungarian born church and concert organist, will provide a soloist recital on Sunday, 14 May 2017. He will be playing the music of J.S. Bach, Vierne and Koloss. Soprano, Borbala Varga-Baboth will also perform.

Dr. Ray Urwin, minister of music at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church and organist for Temple Beth Ohr, will provide a soloist recital on Sunday, 21 May 2017. He will be playing the music of J.S. Bach, Copland and Franck. A complementary art exhibition, by noted local artist Carson English, will follow the organ performance.

Robert Hovencamp, organist and choirmaster at St. Edmund’s Episcopal Church and organist for Stephen S. Wise Temple, will provide a soloist recital on Sunday, 28 May 2017. He will be playing the music of J.S. Bach, Tournemire, Howells, and Guilmart.

The Spring Organ Concert Series will be held at St. Edmund’s Episcopal Church beginning at 4PM and are free to the public. A light reception will follow each 45-minute recital. Donations for St. Edmund’s Friends of Music are encouraged, but not required.
