Suspect Wanted In Bizarre San Marino Strong-Arm Robbery

A heavy-set woman approached another woman on the street and used gold chain to immobilize and rob her victim, according to police.

SAN MARINO, CA — San Marino police were Wednesday asking for the public's help in identifying a heavyset woman who got out of a vehicle and allegedly stole a gold Rolex watch and gold bracelet from a woman on a street.

The robbery occurred at about 11:35 a.m. Tuesday in the area of Lorain Road and Mission Drive, San Marino police Sgt. Candice Torres said.

The victim told officers the suspect was wearing several gold necklaces and gold bracelets when she approached her asking for directions, Torres said.

"While the woman was engaged in conversation, the female suspect started to put necklaces around her neck," Torres said. "The victim stated she did not want any necklaces and the female suspect started to wrap necklaces around her right wrist."

While wrapping the necklaces around the victim's wrist, the suspect managed to remove the woman's watch and bracelet, Torres said.

"The victim attempted to prevent her from taking her Rolex watch and bracelet but the female suspect forcibly removed both of them," she said.

The woman returned to the white vehicle and fled south on Mission Drive, Torres said.
