Blotter: Prostitute Caught in the Act and a Stolen Car With a Key Stuck in the Ignition

The San Rafael Police Department blotter for April 12-15 includes a drunk man who discharged a fire extinguisher.

 

April 15

Battery on peace officer: Transit Center, 850 Tamalpais Avenue. Winifred Susan Leshane stole a surfboard from a display and appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. She violently resisted the officer’s attempt to place her under arrest. She took the eyeglasses from the officer’s face and destroyed them, ripped his badge of his shirt and grabbed the officer’s gun holster during the violent fight. The officer had to hold her down on the ground by her throat to keep her from resisting. The officer sustained minor injury to his right hand and left knee. The suspect was booked on suspicion of battery of a peace officer, resisting arrest, petty theft, vandalism and disorderly conduct.

Burglary: First Street Apartments, 430 First Street. A subject was identified as a person who broke into the apartment building’s coin operated dryers.

April 14

Stolen car: The subject reported at 5:56 p.m. that his vehicle was stolen from Fourth Street, between Tamalpais Avenue and Lootens Place. Due to a mechanical problem, the key is stuck in the ignition and the subject commonly drives it that way. He said he also may have left the doors unlocked. There was roughly $150 worth of various tools in the vehicle, a chrome toolbox in the back and a black and white stripped lumber rack.

Fire extinguisher: The subject was intoxicated and discharged a fire extinguisher on Fairfax Street for no reason, causing the San Rafael Police and San Rafael Fire to respond. He was arrested and booked into jail.

 

April 13 

Inflicting injury on a spouse: Pickleweed Park. The subject met the victim at the park to drink and talk about their breakup. As they drank a bottle of Vodka, they began to argue about each other cheating. The argument resulted in the subject pushing, shoving and punching the victim, who sustained minor visible injuries to her face. The subject was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail.

 

April 12 

Prostitution: Belvedere Street and Medway Road. The female subject contacted three suspected “Johns” in the Canal area during a 30-minute period. She lives in Stockton and could not provide a valid reason to loiter in the Canal area. She later admitted to being in the area for the purpose of prostitution. She was cited and released.

Prostitution sting: The Street Crimes Unit and patrol officers performed an undercover operation targeting persons that solicit prostitutes for sexual acts, also known as “Johns.” A female undercover officer and multiple suspects negotiated a price for a sexual act. Once a price was agreed upon, they would begin walking to Motel 6 to perform the act. The suspect was then placed under arrest. A total of five males were cited for 647(b) pc.

Burglary: Mariposa Road. Between April 11 at 1:30 p.m. and April 12 at 12:30 a.m. a suspected entered the unlocked rear window of the reporting person’s bedroom. The suspect rummaged through drawers but did not appear to steal anything.
