Buster Posey Gives Junior Giants Free Gloves

Giants catcher Buster Posey was set to host 1,000 players at the Glove Giveaway event prior to Tuesday's game against the Colorado Rockies.

San Francisco, CA — Junior Giants players from all over the state were scheduled to attend a special event to receive baseball gloves before Tuesday's San Francisco Giants game, according to the Giants Community Fund.

Giants catcher Buster Posey was set to host 1,000 players at the Glove Giveaway event at AT&T Park at 3:15 p.m. prior to the 7:15 p.m. game against the Colorado Rockies.

Posey was to donate new Rawlings gloves and a ticket to Tuesday night's game to each of the players in attendance, fund officials said.

Junior Giants is a free, noncompetitive coed program serving children from 87 leagues across California, Nevada and Oregon, with 80 percent of the players living in low- to moderate-income households. A Marin County league is based in San Rafael.

Posey said in a statement, "The Glove Giveaway is a fantastic event with a great cause to help kids with the tools they need to have a fun and active season. I am always honored to be a part of it."

In addition, Giants broadcaster Duane Kuiper will moderate an exclusive question and answer session for all of the attendees.
