Drought Measures Likely On Tap For Marin: Report

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Drought conditions have prompted Marin County water agencies to consider conservations measures in the coming weeks, The Marin Independent Journal reports

The Marin Municipal Water District, which serves the vast majority of Marin County residents will meet to discuss potential actions at its April 6 meeting according to the report.

Mandatory conservation orders such as those enacted from 2013-2017 are on the table according to the report.

The district could also enact voluntary conservation orders, the report said.

The North Marin Water District is considering similar actions, the report said.

Marin is not alone.

According to data released Thursday by the U.S. Drought Monitor, more than 90 percent of California is currently under drought conditions and 99.3 percent of the state is abnormally dry.

Nearly a third of the state is in extreme drought and 5.36 percent of California is experiencing exceptional drought conditions.
