Elderly Man Seriously Hurt In Broad Daylight San Rafael Assault

The victim was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and placed in an intensive care unit, police said.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — A suspect was arrested in connection with the assault on a 73-year-old man in broad daylight in downtown San Rafael earlier this week that left his victim hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The suspect has been identified as Francisco Collin Camey, 23, according to the San Rafael Police Department. Camey has no known San Rafael address.

Officers at around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday responded to reports of an elderly man covered in blood asking for help in the area of Second and Irwin streets, police said.

Officers identified Camey as the suspect from video surveillance footage of the assault, police said.

Camey was quickly located and arrested on suspicion of causing great bodily injury and causing harm to an elder among other charges.
