Community Institute for Psychotherapy is one of 12 organizations to receive a Giving Marin Grant Award

SAN RAFAEL, CALIF.– Community Institute for Psychotherapy (CIP) announced today that Giving Marin awarded a grant of $5,000 in support of CIP’s Client Emergency Fund in order to make it possible for those in the community struggling both with economic hardship and mental health issues to receive the clinical support and healthy tools they need to weather this time with resilience and hope. The work encompasses and emphasis not only on problem resolution, but promotion of protective factors, resilience, and overall wellbeing.

“We are honored that Community Institute for Psychotherapy joined 11 other Marin nonprofit organizations receiving $5,000 to $10,000 grants totalling $75,000. We are honored to be among them. This grant comes at a critical time,” said, Robin Joy Berenson, Executive and Clinical Director. “Never in our more than 40 years has CIP’s role as a safety-net provider of accessible, affordable mental health care for the most disadvantaged been more critical than in the midst of this pandemic.”

Giving Marin’s February 25th Zoom celebration included remarks from Assemblymember, Marc Levine, Redwood Credit Union CEO, Brett Martinez and Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical Government Affairs Executive Director, Betsy Ricketts, who shared why her company gave an additional $25,000 to the grant program this year. The other grant recipients are Bayside Martin Luther King Jr. Academy Foundation Arts Plus, Canal Alliance, Ceres Community Project, Community Action Marin, Family & Children’s Law Center, Gilead House, Marin Foster Care Association, Novato Spirit, Project Avary, Sparkle Foundation and WildCare.

Giving Marin is a movement fueled by a collection of the North Bay’s most community-minded businesses and institutions. 2021 Sponsors include: Redwood Credit Union, Kaiser Permanente CPi Developers, College of Marin, Nugget Markets, Ghilotti Bros., Inc., Ultragenyx Pharmaceuticals, Price Simms Family Advantage, Northern Pacific Roofing with special support from Marin Independent Journal.

About The Community Institute for Psychotherapy

Community Institute for Psychotherapy provides quality mental health services for low-income and resource disadvantaged individuals. Through psychotherapy, training, education, and prevention, CIP plays a vital role in personal and global change, giving power back to the individual and enhancing the health and interconnectivity of the community. We are providing teletherapy sessions for adults and children. CIP served 750 clients throughout Marin in 2020. Many are referred from Marin public schools, and public and private agencies, including Marin Community Clinic, CFS Emergency Services, and Community Mental Health, among others.
