Heat Advisory Issued For San Rafael
Temperatures are expected to be 15 to 25 degrees higher than normal in most of the Bay Area.
SAN RAFAEL, CA — Temperatures are expected to heat up Thursday in the San Francisco Bay Area, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a heat advisory for the majority of the region.
The heat advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday for most of the Bay Area, including San Rafael.
Temperatures are forecast to be 15 to 25 degrees higher than normal, with temperatures up to 105 in the hottest, interior areas, the NWS said. Afternoon highs are expected to be in the low 90s to low 100s.

"Near record to record temperatures are possible on Thursday for many areas," forecasters said.
Forecasters advised residents to drink plenty of water, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing, stay out of the sun, stay in an air-conditioned room, and check on relatives and neighbors. Weather officials also reminded residents that young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles, with interiors able to reach deadly temperatures in minutes.

The NWS warned residents to be wary of heat exhaustion or heat stroke after spending prolonged time outdoors.
"People most vulnerable include those who spend extended periods outdoors, those without air conditioning, young children, the elderly, and those with chronic illness," officials said.
Anyone who experiences a heat-related illness should move to a cool and shaded location and call 911 immediately.
