Irving Fire: Containment Climbs to 95% For Marin Crews

The Marin wildland blaze burning in the Samuel P. Taylor State Park is believed to be caused by a power line that fell on the Ridge Trail.

SAN RAFAEL, CA -- The 152-acre Irving Fire burning at Samuel P. Taylor State Park northwest of Lagunitas in Marin County is 95 percent contained this morning, the Marin County Fire Department said.

Crews are removing hoses and working on fire line suppression repair, the fire department said.

The cause of the fire is believed to be a power line that fell on the Ridge Trail on the south side of Barnabe Mountain. PG&E spokeswoman Deanna Contreras said the utility company is working with Cal Fire and the Marin County Fire Department to learn more about the preliminary finding.

The first smoke from the fire was reported between 7 and 7:30 p.m. Monday, Marin County Fire Department spokeswoman Laine Hendricks said.
