Italian Street Painting Marin (ISPM), a nonprofit organization dedicated to showcasing the fine art of street painting and funding quality arts education and scholarship programs in Marin County, is pleased to announce their first ever Arts Grant Recipients for 2014. A total amount of $15,000 will be distributed among 11 Marin County nonprofits that are dedicated to presenting the arts through programs for Marin County children and adults. For more information call 415-884-2423 or visit www.italianstreetpaintingmarin.org

“We are very excited to be able to help fund these important programs committed to preserving and presenting the arts in our community,” said Sue Carlomagno, Italian Street Painting Marin founding member. “These grants will provide an opportunity for children and adults to enrich their lives through the arts.”

The 2014 Arts Grant Recipients reflect the diversity of art programs in Marin County that ISPM seeks to support. Programs range from providing homeless and at-risk children the opportunity to experience painting, ceramics, drawing, photography, and collage in a safe environment, to providing outdoor sculpture exhibitions for the entire community.

2014 Grant Recipients:

Art Works Downtown Public Sculpture Program — a series of exhibitions in San Rafael, California, showcasing innovative emerging sculptors, and fostering culture in the community.

California Film Institute My Place/My Story — a five-day intensive digital story telling workshop for students ages 13-18, providing students a creative outlet to share their personal stories through film.

Dominican University of California Student Scholarship — partial scholarship to a member of Dominican’s LINES Ballet BFA Program, one of only two programs in the U.S. that combines intensive ballet training with a renowned ballet company, and a strong liberal arts education.

DrawBridge Visual Arts Program — provides homeless and other at-risk children instruction and experiences in painting, ceramics, drawing, photography, and collage, in an environment that is safe, fun, and consistent.

Marin Museum of Contemporary Art Saturday Summer Art Camp — a series of five all-day workshops for children ages 8-13. Each workshop provides instruction in a different medium by professional working artists.

Marin Symphony Symphony@Schools — this outreach program provides elementary and middle schools a hands-on approach to music education by members of small orchestral ensembles.

Youth in Arts - Arts Unite Us — a first-of-its-kind playwriting and performance collaboration between special education students and developmentally typical peers, building youth-led advocacy for inclusion at their high school.

Italian Street Painting Marin (ISPM) was formed in 2012 by a team of passionate individuals who wanted the San Francisco Bay Area community to continue to experience the performance art of street painting with a major event in downtown San Rafael, California, and provide financial support for arts in our community. Italian Street Painting Marin is a fiscally sponsored project of Every Life Foundation for Rare Diseases, a tax exempt Section 501(c)(3) organization, EIN 26-4614274. www.italianstreetpaintingmarin.org
