Marin Child Sex Assault Suspect Arrested
The suspect is accused of abusing the victim in the fall of last year according to police.
NOVATO, CA – A school district employee’s tip helped lead to the arrest of a man suspected of sexually assaulting a minor, the Novato Police Department said.
The 35-year-old Novato man was arrested on suspicion of multiple sex charges including having sexual intercourse with a child under 10, forcible sexual penetration with a foreign object and continuous sexual abuse of a child, according to the Marin County inmate information website.
The suspect was arrested Friday in Petaluma according to police.
A Novato Unified School District employee reported a student being sexually assaulted by the victim’s mother’s former boyfriend to a school resource officer, police said.

The school resource officer initiated the probe, police said.

The suspect was booked into the Marin County Jail according to police.
He is being held on $250,000 bail according to the county’s inmate info website.
“The Novato Police Department thoroughly investigates sexual assaults including crimes committed against children to the fullest extent,” police said in a statement.
“We are extremely pleased with the outcome of this investigation and would like to thank the Novato Unified School District as well as the witnesses and victim of this case for their cooperation and assistance.”
Victims of sexual assault are encouraged to report criminal offenses to police.
