Marin Co. Police Dept. Issues St. Patrick’s Day DUI Advisory

NOVATO, CA — The Novato Police Department has issued a DUI enforcement advisory for St. Patrick’s Day.
Officers will patrol the streets looking for signs of impaired drivers, the NPD said in a statement.
“If you are celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, remember to do so responsibly by having a plan to get home safely,” the statement said.

Seven people were killed and 116 others were injured in crashes caused by driving under the influence on St. Patrick’s Day in 2019, the most recent pre-pandemic celebration of the holiday.
Police are also admonishing the public to adhere to the state and local coronavirus guidelines.

Anyone noticing a suspected drunk driver on the road is asked to call 911.
Funding for this enforcement is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
