Marin County Fire Department Announces $2K Scholarship

NOVATO, CA — The Novato Fire Department announced Tuesday it will award a $2,000 scholarship to an outstanding Marin County high school senior in honor of a firefighter who died in the line of duty.

Steven L. Rucker died battling the 2003 Southern California wildfires.

Novato Fire Foundation Scholarship Program applicants must be high school seniors currently attending a Marin County school who will start college in the fall of this year with the goal of completing prerequisite courses in a paramedic program.

The deadline to apply is April 30.
