MARIN COUNTY, CA — Marin County expects to move to the less restrictive yellow tier this week, The San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The move is expected to be announced Tuesday when the state’s health department updates its tier assignments according to the report.

Currently just four California counties are in the yellow tier (Alpine, Lassen, Mendocino and Sierra).
Marin’s vaccine rollout has been a key factor in the county looking like a can't-miss yellow tier candidate a day ahead of the state's announcement.

As of Monday morning, 82.5 percent of Marin residents over the age of 16 have received at least one dose of the vaccine and 61.7 percent are fully vaccinated according to the county's vaccine dashboard.
Statewide the numbers are less rosy, with just 40.2 percent of Californians fully vaccinated and 59.6 percent partially vaccinated according to the state’s dashboard.
Marin narrowly missed an expected to move to the yellow tier in the health department’s most recent update on April 20 amid an uptick in cases attributed to spring break travel.
Under the yellow tier gyms and indoor dining could expand from 25 percent to 50 percent, live events with assigned seating could expand to 67 percent and bars could reopen to 25 percent.
Marin is among four yellow tier county candidates, The Sacramento Bee reports. That group includes Los Angeles, the nation’s coronavirus epicenter as recently as three months ago. San Francisco and Trinity are the others.
