UPDATE: Tree Branch Briefly Cuts Power to 3,760 Monday Afternoon

Monday’s windy weather caused a tree branch to briefly knock out power to roughly 3,760 PG&E customers in San Rafael. 

The outage, which started around 3:30 p.m. and was restored at 4:05 p.m., mainly affected residents and businesses in San Rafael’s Canal neighborhood.

“A tree branch came into contact with the line,” PG&E Spokesperson Brittany McKannay said.

The branch didn’t cause any damage, allowing repair crews to remove the branch and restore power fairly quickly, she said.

The outage impacted customers including those on Kerner Blvd, Sonoma Street, Canal Street, Novato Street, Fairfax Street, Nantucket Cove and Larkspur Street.

“We patrol all of our lines for any type of vegetation we think can come in contact with our lines,” McKannay said. “We try to prune to eliminate these types of issues when it gets windy.”
