Nightly San Rafael​ Offramp Closures Extended Through ​Sunday

Caltrans officials advise drivers on northbound Highway 101 in Marin County to take caution during the closure.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — The California Department of Transportation has extended through Sunday a nightly closure of the Central San Rafael exit on northbound U.S. Highway 101 that began Monday night.

The nightly closures had been announced for just the work week but will now continue through the weekend.

Two of the three lanes of the off-ramp will be closed from 8-11:50 p.m. Saturday and from 8-11 p.m. Sunday, followed immediately by a full closure of the off-ramp that will continue overnight until 8 a.m. on Sunday and until 6 a.m. on Monday.

Caltrans officials advise drivers on northbound Highway 101 in Marin County to take caution during the closure and recommend that those traveling to San Rafael to plan to follow detours at the North San Pedro Road or Francisco Boulevard exits.

The closures are due to the ongoing work on the Harbor Bay Bridge Replacement Project, slated for completion in November or December.

CalTrans notes there will be a series of full ramp closures throughout the project, three weekend full closures, along with a significant amount of temporary lane shifts. Officials advise motorists to drive with caution and follow all posted directional signs.
