MARIN COUNTY, CA – Fire season continues in Marin County as critical fire weather conditions are expected to return this weekend, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a red flag warning for the North Bay mountains.

The red flag warning will be in effect from 8 p.m. Saturday until 10 a.m. Sunday for the North Bay mountains and other parts of the Bay Area above 1,000 feet, according to the National Weather Service. The affected area includes the higher terrain parts of Marin, Napa, Sonoma and East Bay counties.

Northeast winds of 20-30 miles per hour with gusts up to 35 miles per hour will develop around sunset Saturday. There will be little overnight humidity recovery, and any fires that develop have the potential to spread rapidly, the National Weather Service said.
