SAN RAFAEL, CA — A San Rafael administrator who has been with the city for more than five years is stepping down.
Andrew Hening, who has served as the city’s director of homeless planning and outreach since March of 2016, announced on the city’s website earlier this week that this will be his last month.
Hening said he is leaving his current role with the city to pursue his goal of taking on new projects with the state, region and country.

Hening said he will still be a visible presence in San Rafael, noting his ongoing role with Opening Doors Marin, a public-private partnership working to create more affordable housing.
“It has truly been my honor to serve the San Rafael community, and I am incredibly proud of the strategies and programs we’ve implemented the last five years,” Hening said in a statement.
“The city is in a much stronger place than it was five years ago, and I am very confident about what the future holds, especially with the plan outlined above.”
