San Rafael Children Run to Support School Libraries

Elementary students at all the San Rafael City Schools District have been gathering donations to keep school library programs intact.

San Rafael elementary school students have been running — many over a mile in 15 minutes — to raise funds to support their schools’ libraries.

For the fourth annual Run for Reading, students at several San Rafael schools have gathered sponsors to help library books, research materials and services stay intact. Donors may make a base donation, or others may agree to make a donation for each lap a child runs. The young children then each spend 15 minutes running around a small circle — organizers calculated that roughly 30 laps equaled the distance of one mile.
