San Rafael Readies For National Night Out
The "38th Annual National Night Out" will be commemorated in neighborhoods throughout the city Aug. 3 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
SAN RAFAEL, CA — San Rafael will be among thousands of communities next month participating in a national crime-prevention event.
The “38th Annual National Night Out” will be commemorated in neighborhoods throughout the city Aug. 3 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
This year will be the eighth time San Rafael participates in this event. Last year’s NNO was canceled amid the pandemic.

Participants are asked to turn on their outside lights and spend the evening with neighbors and police during the event.
“We are looking forward to coming face to face with the community for one night of fun and festivities throughout our city,” the San Rafael Police Department said in a statement announcing its participation in the event.

The event will feature block parties, cookouts, parades, contests, youth activities, and more.
“This is a night to send a powerful message about neighborhood unity, crime prevention awareness, safety, and police-community partnerships,” the SRPD said.
“Let’s show that San Rafael is united and dedicated to building a safer, more caring community.”
Residents who want to hold a NNO are required to fill out a registration form that includes a detailed description of planned activities.
If such plans involve street closures a City Events and Parade permit form must be completed.
The Police Department Events Coordinator will need to review and evaluate all the information provided and may contact event hosts regarding their plans.
The deadline for submitting a registration form is July 20.
The registration form should be sent to to Antonette Bullock, SRPD NNO Coordinator.
