San Rafael’s Jake Verweil Shines In 7-0 Victory Over HS 1327
The Bulldogs lefty tossed a three-hit shutout in which he struck out 11 and walked none.
SAN RAFAEL, CA — Pitching standout Jake Verweil believes he can make an impact at the collegiate level, and the San Rafael High lefty has been making a pretty strong case of late.
The Bulldogs senior pitched a three-hit shutout Friday in a 7-0 Marin County Athletic League game against High School 1327 (formerly Drake High).
The 6-foot-4 205-pounder struck out 11 and walked none. Over his last two games he’s struck 16 and given up one walk.

The Bulldogs’ most recent win was their third straight and fourth in five games after losing seven straight.
Tynan Weathers was 2 for 3 with a double, a homer and three RBI to lead the Bulldogs offensively.

Max Shilstone and James Lamb each had two hits for San Rafael.
Cal Amborn had two hits for H.S. 1327, which lost its fourth straight after winning three in a row and five of its previous six.
Verweil also plays first base and sometimes the outfield. He’s batting .378 (17 for 45) this year with a .474 on-base percentage and a .918 OPS.
Verweil plays club ball for California Warriors and has consistently carried a GPA north of 4.0.
He features a mid-80 mph fastball, a changeup and a curve.
