A NBC Bay Area story about a San Francisco company that uses security cameras to fight crime includes an interview with San Rafael resident Steve Chipman, who said he set up a camera after his “quiet San Rafael neighborhood” was hit with auto thefts. The camera ultimately led to the identification of the person who broke into his vehicle — “a neighborhood kid” and the news report featured the video clip of theft.
A fire destroyed the Salvation Army trailer early on Tuesday morning, according to the Marin Independent Journal. No one was injured in the blaze, but the trailer and all the contents inside it were wrecked.
A post about all-digital libraries on the Huffington Post included a shout-out to San Rafael Public Library Director Sarah Houghton, a “well-known promoter of digital media” who recently told NPR that any plans for a bookless library are “premature.”
Multiple San Rafael organizations, including the Center for Domestic Peace and the Ritter Center, are among the Marin groups slated to get funds to help end homelessness, according to this report in the Marin Independent Journal. The groups, including Homeward Bound of Marin, will use to funds to provide services in San Rafael.
