SF Giants Trophy Tour Coming to San Rafael

What: The San Francisco Giants World Championship Trophy Tour presented by Bank of America will continue its public tour and visit San Rafael on Friday, March 6. The 2010, 2012 and 2014 Major League Baseball’s Commissioner’s Trophies, crafted by Tiffany & Co., will be on display to help celebrate the World Series Champions with devoted Giants fans in Junior Giants communities throughout northern and central California, Oregon and Nevada, and help raise funds and awareness for the Junior Giants program.

The viewing of the trophies is free to the public but a voluntary contribution of $2 per person is suggested to support the local Junior Giants program. This will be the third public trophy tour held in the past five years.

Junior Giants is the flagship program of the Giants Community Fund, which serves more than 22,000 boys and girls in 87 underserved communities throughout northern and central California and southern Oregon. It is a free and non-competitive baseball program that has served as a model for MLB youth initiatives. Using baseball, the Junior Giants provides opportunities for youth to link with adult mentors and to learn about the program’s Four Bases of Character Development: Confidence, Integrity, Leadership and Teamwork. Locally, the Junior Giants program serves participants who would not normally have the opportunity or means to play baseball.

While waiting to view the Trophy SF Giants Highlights will be played and an array of ‘Giant’ fun surprises, including the Jr. Giants BBQ providing ballpark treats raising funds for local baseball clinics.

There will be no public parking at B Street Community Center or at the adjacent Safeway parking lot. There is available parking at two nearby parking garages at A Street & Third Street or B Street & Third Street. Use only legal spaces on the local streets or the parking garages.
