Woman Killed In Rollover Crash In San Rafael

An elderly woman was killed over the weekend in a rollover crash in the area of Fifth Avenue and Irwin Street in San Rafael, police said.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — An elderly woman was killed over the weekend in a rollover crash in San Rafael.

Police received a report of a vehicle collision shortly before 10:45 p.m. Sunday in the area of Fifth Avenue and Irwin Street, according to the San Rafael Police Department.

Police found the woman as the sole occupant in a vehicle that had rolled over, San Rafael police Sgt. Justin Graham said. Officers broke the windshield to remove the woman, who was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined she had struck an unoccupied and parked vehicle, causing her own car to roll over, Graham said. The cause of the crash remained unknown and under investigation.

The woman's name has not yet been released.
