SAN RAMON, CA — As the East Bay continues to mourn Susan Guinee, the woman killed last week in a fatal San Ramon car crash, donors have raised some $80,000 to benefit her family.

A GoFundMe online fundraising campaign was created in the wake of the crash. Organizer David Lawrence remembered the late 56-year-old San Ramon resident as a loving single mother, twin sister, special education teacher and daughter who cared for her live-in mother.

Guinee worked at the San Lorenzo School District. She taught physical education for three decades and held a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and exercise science from California State University, Hayward, according to her LinkedIn profile.

In tributes to Guinee, donors recalled her as a positive influence with a kind soul who made her students love their PE class. She "radiated positive energy," one wrote.

The outpouring of support was "an incredible testament to the wonderful person that Susan was and how she and her family are loved by our entire, large community," Lawrence wrote.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will help cover her family's rent, food and funeral expenses as they grieve.

"Let's overwhelm [her son] and his grandmother with our kindness," Lawrence wrote. "Thank you for your support, consideration, and generosity."
