All Bay Area Residents Can Get COVID-19 Vaccines In Contra Costa
Contra Costa County will offer vaccines to anyone in the U.S., regardless of whether they live or work in the county.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Anyone in the country can now get a vaccine in Contra Costa County, regardless of whether they live or work there.
Contra Costa Health Services announced Monday that anyone 16 or older is now eligible as the county's vaccine supply now exceeds demand. Appointments at county vaccine sites have gone unfilled in recent weeks.
The move won't hamper residents' access to the vaccine, according to Contra Costa Health Services. Seven in 10 Contra Costa residents 16 or older are partly vaccinated; half of the eligible population is fully vaccinated.

“We’ve always said that this virus doesn’t recognize borders. Now we can say that Contra Costa County no longer cares about borders when it comes to getting people vaccinated against COVID,” said Dr. Chris Farnitano, Contra Costa health officer, in a statement. “To end the pandemic, we need to vaccinate as many people as possible — not just people from Contra Costa, but from all over.”
